We, in America are being destroyed from “within,” and not from some outside force!
The Second Amendment to the Constitution;
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
The fact that an individual can purchase any amount and almost any type of Weapons; purchase 6,000 rounds of ammunition along with protective armor and then shoot-up a Cinema filled with innocent children, young adults, women and men, killing twelve and injuring fifty-eight and yet, the defenders of the egregious National Rifle Association that consists of members of Congress; Governors; Television and Radio Hosts and others, are so pernicious, that on ABC’s Sunday show “This Week,” Senator Johnson stated that “if one of the patrons were armed, they perhaps could have killed the assailant,” is beyond common sense.” Essentially he was advocating “more guns would result in less crime.”
REPUBLICANS AND GUNS
I do not wish it but unless the families of the NRA President, Wayne LaPierre or one of the Republicans are brutalized by one of these crazies, perhaps, just perhaps, only then, would they be inclined to stop their phantasmagoric rationales and internecine policies, advocating these deranged rights that they profess!
I am a firm believer in adhering to the Second Amendment to the Constitution, but I do believe that “common sense” and not Political reelection should be the vehicle in the implementation, to prevent further carnage unto the American people that has gone on for too long.
It would be Political suicide for President Obama to come out in favor of any sort of reform, until the November elections. I also believe it would be the same for any Democrat that is in troubled waters for reelection! [My point is that if the country ends up with a Democratic Controlled House and Senate and President Obama is reelected, we might see some meaningful legislation to protect society, while still upholding the rights of the Second Amendment.]
This is an American issue and not a political party issue! It is going to take the goodwill of all of the Congressional Law Makers in listening to the Police Chiefs, Mayor, Police Officers and Prosecutors in every State, to guide them in coming to the right decision for the good of the American people.
Prior to the Supreme Court’s 2008 decision in District of Columbia v. Heller, the courts had yet to definitively state what right the Second Amendment protected.
However, the Supreme Court has now definitively held that the Second Amendment protects an individual’s right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that weapon for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home. Moreover, this right applies not just to the federal government, but to states and municipalities as well.
There isn’t anywhere in the Court’s ruling that States should allow people to walk around with loaded Guns and neither did it say that individuals should have the right to purchase Military Style Weapons.
