GOP House Votes 240-179 To Repeal Estate Tax; Giving 270 Billion To The Wealthy

The House of Representatives voted to kill the federal estate tax today 240-179, with 7 Democrats joining. That doesn’t mean that the estate tax is going away anytime soon, but anti-death tax advocates say it sets the stage for possible repeal in 2017. Significantly, the bill keeps in place a provision called “stepped up basis” that allows capital gains to escape taxation if passed to heirs.

For now, there aren’t enough votes in the Senate, and President Barack Obama would veto estate tax repeal anyway.

“Representatives are interested in showing that this is a priority and continuing the drumbeat,” says Palmer Schoening, head of the Family Business Coalition which lobbied on behalf of 82 business groups in favor of the repeal bill, H.R. 1105, introduced by Kevin Brady (R-TX). Sen. John Thune (R-SD) sponsored a companion bill, S. 860.

Only 2 out of every 1,000 people who die are subject to the federal estate tax, according to Tax Policy Center estimates. That’s because there’s a huge exclusion amount–$5.43 million per individual or $10.86 million per couple—before the tax kicks in (the top rate is 40%).

Arguments for repeal: it would spur the economy and lift burdens on owners of small businesses and farms. Karen Madonia, chief financial officer of Illco, a Chicago-area HVAC supplies distributor, testified on Capitol Hill last month how an estate tax on her father’s death would mean selling parts of the company (shutting down branches, laying off workers or liquidating inventory) to pay it.

Arguments in favor of the tax: it helps reduce concentrations of wealth and produces additional revenue. Repealing the tax would cost the Treasury $270 billion over 10 years. On average, 55% of the value of estates worth more than $100 million is made up of unrealized capital gains that have never faced income or capital gains tax, according to Americans For Tax Fairness’ review of Federal Reserve Data.

The White House frames the issue a different way on its blog: Taxpayers have a choice of “giveaways to the wealthy few” (“5,400 of America’s wealthiest households would get an average tax cut of more than $3 million”) versus “tax cuts for the middle class” (44 million middle-class families would get an average tax cut of nearly $600). Misogynist Republicans Must Have Serious Fear Of Vaginas; GOP Congress Passed 5 Bills In Three Days To Restrict Women’s Rights. They must think Vaginas have teeth!

What is really wrong with these lunatics that the uninformed, ignorant, uneducated, brainwashed are not only voting to put them in Office, but they vote to keep them in Office.

Now that the Republicans Control Both Houses of Congress and considering they haven’t done anything for 95% of the American people or America in the past six [6] years, one would think they would pass Jobs Bill, Veterans Benefits Bill, Infrastructure, Minimum Wage and Bills that would benefit the Working Class, Students, Poor and the Elderly. But that is not what they have done in their first week and now four days into their second week.

They have spent time and Money passing Bills that have no chance of becoming Law with the President promise to Veto any and all Bills that are not in the Interest of America or its people. However, they have passed Keystone, five [5] Abortion Bills, a Bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security with an Amendment to repeal President Obama’s Immigration Executive Orders signed in 2012 and 2014. They have also passed a Bill to defund Obamacare.

Perhaps, just perhaps, we need Laws on the Books that if Congress takes Money under false pretenses, they should be charged with a Felony and mandatory Prison time. Such as was when Debtors Law Existed. Perhaps one day in the near future “We the people would have an opportunity again to have a Government by the People and for the People.” At the moment the Republican Party is one branch of the Government that is for only 5% of the People.

GOP SCARED OF VAGINAS

The Media; The American People; President Obama and the use of faulty Polling; Eric Cantor is a good example; he was supposed to win by 34% according to “every Poll.”

Poll released today said 33% of Americans think Obama is the worst President since World War 11. Who are these people? Who are the Pollsters Polling?

Gallup published several reports stating that since Cell Phones have far out-paced Land-Lines, it is difficult to obtain any realistic data, because most of the people with Land-Lines are over 60. And, we are fully cognizant that older whites vote Republicans, hence, one has to wonder who the Pollsters are calling. To prove Gallup’s point the Polls all of them predicted that Eric Cantor was going to win by 34 points minimum and we know what has happened to that prediction.

In the like manner that the Republican Congress have been an obstacle to President Obama, willfully using deceitful tactics, it is self evident that the Media that employ educated people are aware that the Polling is worthless, but the Media use faulty Polls to create friction and commotion. ABC has as a guest almost every week on their Sunday show “This Week,” the most arrogant and obnoxious person Bill Crystal and he isn’t the only one. I have stopped looking at that show because Bill Crystal has never given this President any credit for anything and he is always promulgating phantasmagoric rationales and internecine narcissism.

I think it is beyond any reasonable thinking person that are informed, not uninformed, to realize where we were when George W. Bush left Office. We were a country on the verge of Bankruptcy; two badly managed wars; the housing market totally crashed; the stock market, Dow were under 7,000; more than ten million people had lost their jobs and yes to be quite frank, we were in deep and unforgiving waters.

Setting aside partisanship if that is possible for some, you can’t help but see where we are today. 9.6 million Jobs created since Obama took office; the housing market has rebounded; today the Dow closed at 16,976 and the S & P and NASDAQ are also at record highs; our financial Institutions are on sound footing and it seem apparent that the Jobs report that would be published on Thursday because Friday is a Holiday, will reflect in excess of 281,000 jobs created for the month of June.

Obama ended the senseless Iraq War and is ending the 13 years we have been in Afghanistan and he didn’t get us into the dozen or more countries that the Republicans were and is still promulgating.

The News Media and by News Media I mean all of them, Television, Radio and Print, they no longer report the News to the Public, what they all do at the behest of their Corporate Owners is to “render their opinions” to one of the largest number in History of Americans that are uninformed, ignorant and brainwashed. The Media never speaks about race when race is front and center of the Obama Presidency. All one has to do is look at the Trolls on the Facebook, Google Plus, Twitter and others and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to ascertain that the disenchantment many have with Obama comes from the Media, Republican Legislators and both, never seem to report anything good that this President has done.

When Bill Moyers asked President Lyndon B. Johnson “Why do Middle-Class and Poor Republicans vote against their best interest?” President Johnson responded; “If you take the lowest white man and convince him that he is better than the best black man, he wouldn’t know you are picking his pocket. Hell, give him someone to look down on and he will empty his pockets for you.” President Johnson’s words may seem like a long time ago, but it is most relevant today, especially when it comes to the Republican Party and their uninformed, ignorant and brainwashed base.

Repugnant Republican Reprobates, Benghazi Freak Show!

“They won’t pass a serious jobs bill, or raise the minimum wage, or reform immigration, but House Republicans think they can earn their pay for the rest of the year by exposing nonexistent malfeasance on the part of the Obama administration.”

“Both actions stem from the same impulse: a need to rouse the most fervent anti-Obama wing of the party and keep it angry enough to deliver its donations and votes to Republicans in the November elections. For a while it seemed as if the Affordable Care Act would perform that role, but Republicans ran into a problem when the country began to realize that it was not destroying American civilization but in fact helping millions of people.

Party leaders needed something more reliable, so they went back and revived two dormant scandals from last year, the embers of which were faithfully tended by Republican adjuncts on Fox News and talk radio. Their hope is to show that the administration is corrupt and untrustworthy, and if Hillary Rodham Clinton also gets roughed up in the process, so much the better.

Four Americans, including the United States ambassador, died in Benghazi, and their deaths have been crassly used by Republicans as a political cudgel, wildly swung in the dark. They have failed to provide proof for any number of conspiracy theories about the administration’s failures, including the particularly ludicrous charge from Representative Darrell Issa that Mrs. Clinton, then the secretary of state, told the Pentagon to “stand down” and not help defend the American compound.” [New York Times]
