GOP AGAINST 95 PERCENT OF AMERICANS

The Nobel Prize-winning economist, once one of the president’s most notable critics, on why Obama is a historic success. By Paul Krugman | October 8, 2014 Rolling Stone Magazine

When it comes to Barack Obama, I’ve always been out of sync. Back in 2008, when many liberals were wildly enthusiastic about his candidacy and his press was strongly favorable, I was skeptical. I worried that he was naive, that his talk about transcending the political divide was a dangerous illusion given the unyielding extremism of the modern American right. Furthermore, it seemed clear to me that, far from being the transformational figure his supporters imagined, he was rather conventional-minded:

Even before taking office, he showed signs of paying far too much attention to what some of us would later take to calling Very Serious People, people who regarded cutting budget deficits and a willingness to slash Social Security as the very essence of political virtue.

And I wasn’t wrong. Obama was indeed naive: He faced scorched-earth Republican opposition from Day One, and it took him years to start dealing with that opposition realistically. Furthermore, he came perilously close to doing terrible things to the U.S. safety net in pursuit of a budget Grand Bargain; we were saved from significant cuts to Social Security and a rise in the Medicare age only by Republican greed, the GOP’s unwillingness to make even token concessions.

But now the shoe is on the other foot: Obama faces trash talk left, right and center – literally – and doesn’t deserve it. Despite bitter opposition, despite having come close to self-inflicted disaster, Obama has emerged as one of the most consequential and, yes, successful presidents in American history. His health reform is imperfect but still a huge step forward – and it’s working better than anyone expected. Financial reform fell far short of what should have happened, but it’s much more effective than you’d think. Economic management has been half-crippled by Republican obstruction, but has nonetheless been much better than in other advanced countries. And environmental policy is starting to look like it could be a major legacy.

BARACK OBAMA - PAUL KRUGMAN - 2

Why are Republicans so offended by Liberals accomplishments?

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on April 13, 2014 by sheriffali

LIBERALS ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

Liberals got women the right to vote! Liberals got African-Americans the right to vote! Liberals created Social Security and lifted millions of elderly out of Poverty. Liberals ended Segregation. Liberals passed the Civil Right Act; The Voting Right Act; Liberals created Medicare and Medicaid and passed the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act.

Republicans/Conservatives Accomplishments:

Republicans Voted against all of the above and have continued to this day to abolish the Programs or gut the Programs by cutting funding for which they have done and will continue to do.

Republican Supporters that are not Millionaires or Billionaires!

Republican Run Red States are some of the Poorest in the Nation; 45% of Children depend on Food Stamps; the Unemployment Insurance that expired December 2013 that the Republicans have refused to pass the extension Bill, hundreds of thousands of active and returning Veterans and the people that still can’t find work due to the unbelievable collapse of our Economy on George W. Bush’s Stewardship, are without the Unemployment Insurance and most of them are completely without any money to take care of their children.

Hence, it begs the question that whether you are Republican, Independent or Democrat and you if are not in the Millionaires or Billionaires Club, why do you support the GOP with your vote that enhances misery on you and your children?

Are you so blinded by being brainwashed or ignorance that you are unable to face reality? Or is it some other prejudice that possesses you body, soul and mind that causes you to suffer for the Republican Politicians that have and continues to protect only the very rich?

The Republicans just passed a Budget in the House of Representatives solely on GOP Party line that increases the Middle Class Taxes by $2,000.00, but, gives an additional $87,000.00 to the Rich. Just when you are going to face reality that your Greek god, Ronald Reagan idea of “trickled-down-economics is a farce that have scammed you and continue to scam you of having a better life for you and your children!

CNN like other News Outlets are asking: “Who would History judge more favorably; Obama or Clinton?”

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , on November 21, 2013 by sheriffali

The capricious thinker would automatically choose Bill Clinton, but I think it would be Obama!

President Obama! If people try not to be so capricious in their thinking, they would see all of the problems below that Obama rectified, including the main person that scarred us with 9/11! Doing good in this world is always costly and the ACA eventually will be rectified, and it will go down in History just as Social Security and the other Social Programs have.

Bill Clinton blew with the Political wind. He promised National Insurance and it never happened. He handled Gays in the Military by “Don’t ask Don’t Tell.” He went along with the crazy Republicans and signed into law [DOMA] Defense of Marriage Act for which the Supreme Court said was unconstitutional. [It took Obama to right these wrongs for our fellow human beings from both Clinton and Bush]

In 1996 he went along again with the Republicans and signed a Bill “Immigration Reform.” That Bill violates the Double Jeopardy Clause in the Constitution.

When he took Office Terrorist blew the Twin Towers basement; He and Janet Reno burn down the David Koresh facility that was housing mostly children; In 1995 Bin Laden and his fellow terrorists blew up the Kobar Towers in Saudi Arabia that was housing our Soldiers; Bill sat on his ass and witnessed the slaughter of 850,000 people in Rwanda and Burundi; In 1998 Terrorist blew up two of our Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania; In 1999 Terrorist blew up the USS Cole killing 49 of our service members. What exactly did Bill Clinton do about all of this madness? Not a damn thing!

It was under Bill Clinton’s Stewardship that Mortgage Rules were relaxed and when George W. Bush took over, he compounded the situation and the real estate bottom fell out.

As for the economy, yes, Bill did do some good but at the inception of his Presidency he had the Dot Com wind at his back. By 2000, the Dot Com crashed!

Notice, I didn’t get into the sex scandal because for me, that was then and now between Bill Clinton, his wife and daughter and God!

By no means should my opinion be seen as a defense for Bush and Cheney! As far as I am concerned, these two egregious people took 225 years of American sacrifice and tossed it to the Coyotes’ They both should be in Prison!

PRESIDENT OBAMA - BILL CLINTON 11-21-13

Republicans Obamacare Coup d’état shut down the Government; Now, they have resorted to Russian Roulette with the Debt Ceiling!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on October 8, 2013 by sheriffali

Speaker of the House John Boehner, allowing the Tea Party Extremists to place him in the most precarious of predicaments, of using this unorthodox method of tying the defunding of the Affordable Care Act in order to keep the Government operating, is not only bad because they don’t like Obamacare or President Obama or both, but, if the President allows this type of extortion to take place, it would set a precedence that would be detrimental to America, irrespective of whether or not a Republican or Democrat is in the White House in the future.

Obama’s haters may think that the Government being shut down and the debt ceiling on the line may be a good thing because of their disdain for this President, however, if these same people would stop and think for a moment and ask the question; “what if the next President is a Republican and the House of Representatives are controlled by Democrats, wouldn’t they possibly use the same unethical means to obtain their way or the high-way?

Setting aside the entire present dilemma at the moment, if such methods to dismantle a legal bill or any other legal bill for that matter are successful, it would be the same as “opening a can of worms.” Now it is Obamacare, but should Boehner and his Out-of-Control Extremists prevail with their black mail, next it could be Medicare, Medicaid, A Woman’s Right to Choose or even Social Security. As recent as 2007, former President George W. Bush included in his Budget a request to privatize Social Security. Just imagine, since 1935 when Franklin D. Roosevelt introduced Social Security, no Republican Voted for it and since then to the present time, most Republicans have continued to do everything possible, to either privatize or dismantle Social Security and many of the Social Programs that provide assistance to almost 98 percent of the American People.

The same loud-mouths, uninformed, brainwashed irrationals that permeate internecine nonsense, most of them “do collect Social Security; Medicare, Medicaid and Food Stamps!” I am yet to see in the comments, some sensible, well written opinion for why they are against programs such as the Affordable Care Act, rather than the continued phantasmagoric rationales.

The Republicans response to Obama’s Health Care Reform was the same for Social Security, Disability Insurance, Medicaid and Medicare! 1935-2013

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on October 1, 2013 by sheriffali

1935

Almost all Republicans in Congress opposed the creation of Social Security.

1939

75% of Republicans in the Senate try to kill legislation providing Social Security benefits to dependents and survivors as well as retired workers.

1956

86% of Republicans in the Senate opposed Disability Insurance; the program was passed nonetheless.

1964

Republican Presidential Candidate Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan both suggest Social Security be made Voluntary.

1977

58% of the Senate voted against amendment to provide semiannual increases.

1977

88% of Republicans in the House and 63% in the Senate voted against increase in Social Security Payroll Tax needed to keep the system solvent.

1981

Ronald Reagan White House proposes $35 Billion in Social Security cuts over five years. The cuts would have included elimination of student benefits; lump-sum death benefits and a retroactive elimination of the $122.00 minimum benefit for three million recipients. Congress ultimately enacted $24 Billion of the proposed cuts.

1981

Reagan Administration begins a wholesale review of the Social Security Disability Rolls, resulting in over 560,000 eligibility investigations in 1982, more than the year before. Ultimately, at least 160,000 families were removed from the rolls.

1981

99% of Republicans in the House and 98% in the Senate voted for legislation containing $22 Billion in Social Security and Medicare Cuts.

1981

Reagan Administration proposes a three month delay in 1982 cost-of-living increases.

1981

Reagan White House proposes $200 Billion in Social Security Cuts between 1982 and 1990. The cuts included reduction in early retirement benefits; tightened disability eligibility standards; delay in the 1982 cost of living adjustment and a 10% eventual reduction in benefits for all new retirees. [The US Senate repudiated the President’s proposal by a vote of 96 to 0]

1982

President Ronald Reagan and Senate Republicans proposed a $40 Billion in benefit cuts over three fiscal years.

1985

The Reagan Administration backs attempts by the Republican Senate Leadership to eliminate the 1986 Social Security COLA. Vice President George Herbert Walker Bush casts the tie-breaking vote to eliminate COLA. The House of Representatives defeated it and it was never enacted.

1990

President George Herbert Walker Bush instigated efforts to end Social Security by appealing to younger workers to put “their” Social Security Insurance Payments in the Stock Market.

2005

Labor led a fight against privatization saved Social Security from being privatized.

2007

President George W. Bush, once again, includes privatization of Social Security in his 2007 Budget.

As you can see, the Republicans Greek god – Ronald Reagan and Congressional Republicans have been and continues to be, the worst enemy of America’s hard-working men and women! Why do people vote for them?

2010 – 2013

The Republicans in the House of Representatives voted 42 times to repeal Obama’s Health Care Reform Act and failed each time.

Then, Speaker of the House John Boehner allowed his Leadership to be hijacked by The Tea Party and the extreme right and attempted to use the Continuing Resolution for;

1. Defunding Obamacare that failed.

2. Delaying Obamacare that failed.

3. Attempted to delay the individual Mandate that failed.

Time ran out and they shut down the Government, claiming they were voting their conscience. However, you don’t have to be Einstein to ascertain that their motive has been and continues to be, to deprive the American People of vital Insurance Services that have been in the making for 70 years.

The Brainwashed or Uninformed Americans or both, really do need to get involved with what is best for them and their children, for if they don’t, they would continue to be used by the Republican Party against their own best interest.
